Dryer Vent Installation & Replacement in NYC

DVC Experts Inc. inspects, cleans and installs dryer vents for homes and buildings across NYC and Long Island, with over 25 years of experience.

When a vent needs replacing rather than cleaning

Most dryer vent problems start with lint, and a thorough cleaning puts them right. But some vents cannot be cleaned back into good shape, because the problem is the duct itself. When that happens, the dryer keeps struggling no matter how often the line is cleared. These are the situations where replacement is usually the better answer.

  • Crushed or kinked duct. Duct squeezed behind a dryer pushed too close to the wall, or bent sharply around a corner, narrows the path for air and catches lint at the pinch point.
  • Plastic or foil duct. Thin flexible duct sags, tears and collects lint in its ridges. Our article on foil versus rigid metal duct explains the difference.
  • Disconnected joints. A section that has pulled apart inside a wall or ceiling blows warm, damp air and lint into the building instead of outside.
  • A run that is too long or has too many bends. Every extra foot and every elbow adds resistance. See our guide to dryer vent length limits and duct elbows, and our article on rerouting badly designed dryer vents.

This is general guidance. Every building is different, which is why we always inspect first and tell you what we found before recommending any work.

Watch for the same signs that point to a clogged vent: clothes that take two cycles to dry, a dryer or laundry room that feels hot, a burning smell, lint around the door or the outside flap, or an outside flap that does not open when the dryer runs. If a cleaning does not clear those symptoms, or they come back quickly, the duct itself is often the cause. Our technicians are trained to spot trouble early, and with over 25 years of experience we have seen most of the ways a vent can be routed, connected and damaged in NYC houses, apartments and buildings.

What an installation visit involves

A new vent is only as good as its route. We take the time to understand where the dryer sits, where the air needs to go and what is in the way before anything is installed.

  • Inspect the existing dryer vent system from the dryer connection to the outside termination.
  • Plan the route: the shortest practical path with as few bends as the space allows.
  • Install the new vent and connect it securely to the dryer and the termination.
  • Confirm the vent is working properly and the dryer is pushing air out freely.
  • Leave behind an invoice detailing all work performed — no surprises on your final bill.

Homes vs apartment buildings

In a house, a new vent usually serves one dryer and runs through a wall, a basement or a roof. The main questions are the shortest practical route and where the vent should exit. Homeowners can read more about our residential dryer vent service.

In apartment buildings, co-ops and condos, vents often climb several floors, share stacks or terminate on the roof, and work in common areas needs the building's approval. We coordinate with property managers, supers and boards so access is arranged in advance. For roof terminations, see roof dryer vents in NYC buildings, and for buildings and laundromats, our commercial dryer vent service.

FAQ

Dryer vent installation questions

How do I know if my dryer vent needs replacing instead of cleaning?
If the duct is crushed or kinked, made of plastic or foil, disconnected at the joints, or runs too far with too many bends, cleaning alone will not restore airflow. We inspect the system first and tell you whether cleaning, repair or a new run makes sense.
What does a dryer vent installation visit include?
We inspect the existing system, plan the route, install the new vent, confirm it is working properly and leave behind an invoice detailing all work performed.
Do you install dryer vents in apartment buildings?
Yes. We work with homeowners as well as property managers, supers and boards in apartment buildings, co-ops and condos, and coordinate access to roofs and shared areas with the building.
Where do you offer dryer vent installation?
We serve Brooklyn, Manhattan, Queens, the Bronx, Staten Island and Long Island, seven days a week. Call 1 718-305-7888 or request a quote and we will discuss your setup.
